2004 YO Jeep Jamboree
Mountain Home, Texas
March 5th, 6th, and 7th
Oscar shows off his new set of lockers.
This family from the Houston area had a very capable TJ.
With Jake riding with Grandpa, Tanner slid into the passenger seat of Ray's new rig.
I wasted no time getting in over my head.
With the heavy rain the day before, I managed to park it against a tree.
Hunter says "get a strap", Pat says, "get the winch".
Blaine was enjoying his first Jamboree.
They were both right, winch first.......
Then the strap for that last ledge.
Ray breaks out the Big Wheel and blasts up it like it was an ant mound.
I kill some time by checking Ray's air pressure.
Sam (our trail leader) complements Pat on some good driving. (open diffs)
The Searchers video guy captures some family fun.
Turns out this guy lives in Leander. Chris waits on deck.
Sam spots Chris while Margo looks on.
This rig belonged to one of the trail helpers and was pristine.
His buddy had an awesome CJ7 that took 5 years to build. (4 cyl Cummins diesel)
Oscar shows his grandson Jake the ropes.
Ray didn't want me to get all the attention so he parked his against a tree.
We start the climb to Lonny's lookout.
Team Red Rocker stretch their legs. (Tanner, Blaine, and Tracy)
The view atop Lonny's lookout.
Steep inclines were no problem for Todd, sporting his new Weber carb.
Hunter was always ready for a thrill.
Piece of cake. (4 cylinders rule!)
Oscar and Todd chat about the benefits of a 4 cylinder. NOT!
Pat checks for clearance from the Mountain Home Municipal Airport.
Pat was also our designated firewood collector.
Oscar puts the new lockers to the test at the Playground.
Tracy took the wheel and caught on quickly.
Pat didn't let open diffs slow him down.
Some of the YO facilities in the background.
Riley, Jarred, and Todd grub down.
Tanner and Blaine pose for the tourist shot.
After all that practice at Playground, Tracy was ready to tackle a real hill.
This Rubicon tackles one of the harder obstacles. (named somebody's crack)
The Red Rocker makes it first shot.
Todd walks up a tough rocky ledge.
Pat burps the throttle on his 4 banger and sends Sam scrambling.
Chris pulls the front wheel up on this one.
Blaine shows confidence in the Red Rocker by day two.
Not a problem. (I bailed out, this was the by-pass)
But, it was TOO slick for open diffs.
Now Chris' turn....BAM, what tha.....
Fortunately is was the end of day 2, and close to the road.
Later that night we got skunked at the raffle so Tanner took out his frustration.
