2006 Walnut Creek, AJE event

Bastrop, Texas

March 11th & 12th, 2006

The Red Rocker did not make it to this event, so Tanner and I rode shotgun with Jay.

We line up for the action.

We start out by dropping off in a wet creek.

Kevin and Kristen are 4X4 event rookies but dive right in.

A tight turn on the other side makes this interesting.

The rest of the team works their way across.

I had to snap a pic of this tire cover.

Well, back down in the creek bottom.

If you get scared, just smile.

Jay slid off in a rut and tagged his nice new King Ranch paintjob on a tree.

Kevin is starting to understand the disadvantage of open diffs

No problem, Jay drops a strap on him and his is out. .

This XJ had 4:88 gears and it really worked nice.

Jay discovers the pucker factor on this off camber drop off.

And back up the other side (starting to see a theme here)

This XJ got jammed against a tree, so we used the Bubba winch

This YJ tipped over against the same tree. .

The soft top is tougher than it looks.

So, back out with the Bubba winch.

Kevin buries his front tire in the fender.

Hang on Kristen, time for a wheelie.

Flex was commonly tested in the creek bottom.

Chris, from Houston, shows the proper use of the Jesus handles.

Our trail leader…..leads us over a bluff.

And does a controlled slide down to the water.

Tanner gives Jay some grief about taking the “EASY LOOP”

Before we can exit the creek, out Tail Gunner rolls a tire.
