Shelton Invitational 2004

Creede, Colorado

July 19th thru 23rd.

Sunday afternoon, Oscar, Ray, Jake, David, Tanner, and I, are all unloaded and ready for some wheeling.

The next morning, we pop up the first ridge to have a look back at the valley where we are staying.

Tanner is enjoying the cool weather and beautiful scenery.

The team works it’s way up to almost 13000 feet on the Rat Creek trail.

You feel like you are on top of the world.

Tanner is amazed he is walking in snow in late July. (it was 100 when we left Texas)

On the way back down I snap this shot of downtown Creede.

The following day we head up to the Wheeler Geological area.

The road was smooth as silk….up to the trailhead. Looks like 13 miles of rough road to go.

Tanner enjoys the view on the way up.

Ray eases the Big Wheel through the forest.

After several hours in the Jeep and a one mile hike, we arrive at an old volcano. Tanner takes some video.

The everyday afternoon thunderstorms start to form so we throw up the tops and head back down the mountain.

Once back to the house, we are treated with some nice rainbows.

The following morning while waiting for the mine tour to start, some cool clouds form in the canyon.

Ever wonder where miners go to the bathroom?

After the mine tour, we wind out of town past several mines.

And train tracks…..

And mines…..

“No silver in this one”

Well off exploring again.

Across ice cold streams.

The next morning we had to head out.

A special thanks to the Shelton boys for including Tanner and I in there adventure.
